One the oldest producers of broiler chicks in Tanzania, Kibo Poultry, was founded by Faye Cran, (then Miss. Sims) a young girl in 1964, as a hobby, with just 25 chicks, a hurricane lamp, 3 old boxes and 3 second hand C.I. Sheets. Later on, as the years passed the hobby slowly grew into a sharp interest in Poultry keeping as a lucrative business.

The farm was nationalized in 1973. But undeterred, with very little capital, she started again from scratch. Since then Kibo has always strived to produce a high quality day-old broiler chick. All their imported parent stock are vaccinated before leaving the overseas hatchery. On arrival they are reared with the utmost care.

Today, Car & General runs one of the pioneers of poultry farming in Tanzania.
